People could identify with more than one group, and each group counts everyone who listed it, so the groups add up to more than the area's population. Hispanic or Latino origin (for example Mexican or Salvadoran) is a separate question from race, so someone can appear in both a Latin American group and another group, such as Aztec or Maya.

To protect privacy, the Census Bureau only reports a group in a census tract where at least 22 people belong to it, and adds small random changes to every count. Totals are for each county, so they include people in tracts too small to be shown on the map. Broad groups like "European" or "East Asian" are left out in favor of the specific groups within them.
